James Luther Adams, the 20th-century Unitarian Theologian said that “the unexamined faith is not worth having because it can only be true by accident.” Does what we believe really matter? Is it time to shelve our old beliefs? Is it time to forget religion or to find something new?
Betty Skwarek is a graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School and is about to enter Preliminary Fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association as a community minister. Formerly from California, she now lives in north Austin with her son and his family. Before studying for the ministry she served as a religious educator in both California and Texas and worked as a public school teacher. She is currently administering the Adult Basic Education and helping with the English as a Second Language programs at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Park, Texas.
