On Sunday, January 6th, The Rev. George Oliver will speak on “Contemplating Covenant: Isaiah 55″
As we set sail on the journey that is a new year, let us concurrently look at the ways we’ve been drawn together, attracted to one another, and summoned as a unit for a particular call under that ambiguous notion called covenant. How can we define its contours in such a way that we reimagine relationships with covenantal understanding binding us as one peculiar people?
George grew up in Huntsville, is a graduate of Huntsville High School, and attended Sam Houston State University, Baylor University, and Andover Newton Theological Seminary. He has served in several churches, as youth choir director, minister of worship and arts, associate pastor, and is currently senior minister at Christ’s Community Church in Massachusetts. He also worked as a Congregational Outreach Specialist on a state-wide Methodist community service project called Texas Impact. He says, “I am a thinker, winker, stinker, rarely a blinker, a lover of God, conversation, politics, and passion.” .
