Members, please bring water to share or we will have water available.
“The fish in the water is silent,
the animals on the earth is noisy,
the bird in the air is singing.
But man has in him the silence of the sea,
the noise of the earth
and the music of the air.”
“The meaning of our self is not to be found in its separateness from God and others,
but in the ceaseless realisation of yoga, of union.”
“The newer people, of this modern age, are more eager to amass than to realize.”
Someone grouped together these three quotations from, Rabindranath Tagore into one calling it one poem. Even though they are actually from three separate works by Tagore, I think that the person who lumped them together was on to something.
It is once again my privilege to join you for your annual Water Communion. As you bring your separate waters this Sunday to be gathered into a common vessel let us consider these words from Tagore and consider the gathering of our lives into the common vessel of this church family.
Ordained in 1992 at his childhood church, Maple Lawn Christian Church (Joliet, IL), Rev Adam has always tried to be ready to share his ministerial gifts and abilities whenever and wherever they are called for. He has served as both a volunteer and paid minister in both churches and parachurch organizations. From his work with the homeless at the Inner Cities Ministries (Springfield IL) thru his time as assistant minister at First UU Church of Houston he has been shaped by the progressive revelation and discovery of the Divine he understands as God. After a much needed break from formal ministry to do some intense work on becoming a healthier person he likes to think that mentally emotionally physically and spiritually he is more whole now than he has ever been.
